At North Notts HC, we endeavour to invest in our junior members of the club by providing them with the opportunities and training to advance. If as a junior you would like to work towards umpiring courses, leadership or coaching awards, please contact the Club Development Officer (firstname.lastname@example.org) or your coach within the club to register your interest. With enough interest for the courses we will hopefully run the courses locally to save travelling away.
Please also speak to the coaches during your training sessions if you wish to umpire at the end of the session during the game for experience.
The Hockey Leadership Award
This programme has been developed by a team of professional and volunteer hockey personnel. It aims to provide parents, students, teachers, players and other potential leaders with a basic knowledge of the key areas of hockey (umpiring, coaching and managing) alongside the confidence to introduce and develop aspects of the game safely to players.
There are no pre-requisites to participating in the programme (other than minimum age of 13yrs) as it is specifically designed for potential leaders who have little delivery or playing experience. The programme consists of practical and theory sessions intended to allow participants the opportunity to develop their leadership skills in a structured learning environment.
Young Umpire Award
The perfect start! A three step (bronze, silver and gold) introduction to hockey’s rules and umpiring all delivered in a fun and interesting way. This award is suitable for young people of 8-13 years and can be delivered in schools and junior clubs.
Foundation Umpire Award
This award is suitable for young people of over 13 years and all adults with limited experience of hockey. This highly popular Award can be delivered in schools and club and can also be attained as a module within the England Hockey Leadership Award.
